Advocacy
We all know how frustrating it can be when people aren’t listening to us. Unfortunately, there are times when your opinions and concerns are not taken seriously by others because you may either be experiencing a mental health problem or you are not well informed of your rights. In those moments you would benefit from an advocate who can support you to express your views, wishes and help you understand your rights.
Our advocates are here to listen to your views, concerns, help you to explore your options and rights and provide information to help you make informed decisions. We also know how daunting it can be to communicate with professionals who you may feel are not listening to what you need. Our advocates will help you to contact the relevant people or contact them on your behalf. We will also accompany you and support you in meetings and appointments.
Advocates will NOT make judgements about you, give their personal opinions, solve your problems or make decisions for you.
